Brugge, Belgium

January 11

This morning the group went off to a manufacturing company, Burke Porter, but I stayed back with Hilary and professor Jen's wife to take Hilary to the doctor for a rash she got on the trip. They couldn't diagnose Hil but she was given a prescription that will hopefully help! We had some free time to do a little shopping in Brugge and get lunch. About 15 of us went to a waffle shoppe and got the most delicious Belgian waffles ever! I got a chocolate syrup and whip cream waffle and Brian got a caramel and whip cream waffle- we split them both. So good! This afternoon we got a tour of Belgium which as pretty cool. I guess I haven't thought too much of it, but it's incredible how old all these places are! Alot of the buildings were built in the 1200's, and the big bell tower in the middle of the town square took 200 years to build. It boggles me to think how much more history these places have compared to the states! The tour got done around 3:30p and the rest of the afternoon & evening was ours to nap, shop, play cards, etc.

My favorite part of Belgium so far has been all the chocolate shoppes! I have never tasted chocolate so good! Hopefully I will be able to save some for home! :)
